Restorative Yoga is Good for You!In our busy lives where so much is demanded of us, it is often the case that we give from a depleted source. This "giving from an empty well" can cause stress, anxiety, depression and if done chronically often leads to illness and disease. That is why finding a few moments every day to "fill the empty well" with basic breathing techniques, meditation, or deep conscious relaxation is not only good for you , but essential to your well being. The general thought is that you need find ways to trigger your parasympathetic nervous system(PNS) every day The PSN is the branch of the Autonomic Nervous System responsible for the body’s ability to recuperate and return to a balanced state (known as "homeostasis") after experiencing pain or stress. Basically it is your nervous systems "brakes." Many of us are not triggering this part of our ANS often enough. Our body gives us symptoms to let us know we are on overdrive which include, backache, insomnia, headache and poor digestion to mention a few. |
